Pokemon-trader.com and growlithe.com among those hit with largest fines.
Nintendo of America Inc. today revealed that a federal judge in the U.S. District Court of Seattle has awarded the company a victory in its suit to recover 49 infringing Internet domain names. The Court ordered that all of the domain names in question be returned to Nintendo, and also awarded Nintendo damages ranging from $2,000 to $30,000 per name, adding up to a total of $560,000 in fines. The suit was filed against 22 defendants under the Anti-Cybersquattting Consumer Protection Act (ACPA) of October 2000. pokemon-trader.com and growlithe.com were two of the domains featured in the suit.
