Updated sales/shipment figures from Nintendo.
Nintendo reported today that a total of 1.1 million GameCube units have been shipped to the North American markets, pointing out that more than 800,000 units have been sold since launch. More than 100,000 GameCubes are being shipped to retailers weekly.
In other news, U.S. sales of Super Smash Bros. Melee have exceeded 250,000 copies within the first 9 days of its release. Not bad. Additionally, the Game Boy Advance is reportedly the best-selling "video game system" for the month of November. Overall, the interactive entertainment industry seems to be very successful this season, with total retail revenues for 2001 slated to exceed a record $8 billion, a 19% increase over the year 2000. Very nice. |
