It had to happen sometime...
In an effort to seemingly boost lagging sales, Nintendo has dropped the price of their flagship console, Gamecube, to $99.99, effective September 25th.
"This is not only good for Nintendo, but great for consumers," says Lucky Evani, Toys 'R Us representative. "For $99, you can now buy video game technology that you couldn't have purchased for $99,000 just a few years ago."
Although this puts the console at a better price point than its chief competitors, namely the PS2 and Xbox, the system still has a major lack of exclusive titles when compared to the other two major consoles on the market.
However, with a whole slew of titles slated to hit the market for the Cube during the upcoming holiday season, including Mario Kart: Double Dash (Nov. 17), things may be turning around for the Big N.
