Darkroom will allow multiplayer play and community.
The Darkroom
The Darkroom is an internet add-on that fosters an online community and unlocks new in-game features. Located on the Beyond Good & Evil website (http://www.beyondgoodevil.com), the Darkroom is a restricted area where players can compare their performance with other players, and unlock new content online and within the game, including a multiplayer puck mini-game.
Internet code & Most Wanted list
When players save their game, they are given an Internet Code which they can input in the Darkroom online. The Internet Code is a summary of successful gameplay - it contains quantitative information such as total playtime, number of pearls earned, and amount of pictures taken. Each code is unique, depending on how well the game is played.
By entering the code in the Darkroom, players have the opportunity to be included on the "Most Wanted" list. Players worldwide are ranked based on how well they have played Beyond Good & Evil. The best players are named and listed on the Web site, in order of their rank. The competitive ranking system gives players yet another incentive to explore every aspect of Beyond Good & Evil. Players can improve their ranking by enter new codes after progressing further in the game.
Mission Page and Multiplayer Mini-Game
When an internet code reaches a certain level, players will gain access to the Web-based mission page inviting them to join the fight against propaganda. After completing the mission given to them, players acquire an M-disc that unlocks bonus features within the puck mini-game from the Akuda Bar of Beyond Good & Evil.
Bonus features with the exclusive M-disc
- Gives players access to the puck mini-game anywhere in the game where an M-disk booth is located (where players save the game).
- Within the puck mini-game, players can select a level of difficulty (easy, normal or difficult)
- Two players can compete against each other, head-to-head (PS2 and GameCube only)
