Former boxing star Alexis Arguello, out for blood, expands Nintendo's litigous history with a potential suit against them, EA, and Sony for the use of his likeness in the Knockout Kings series of games without explicit permission. He became cognizant of his unendorsed placement in the software when a fan purportedly requested an autograph on a copy of some unspecified version of the game.
Nintendo and Sony fit the bill in that they have licensed previous Knockout Kings titles, and therefore reaped the fringe benefits of having Arguello's visage in their respective versions of the title. Strangely enough, Microsoft was not included in the proceedings.
In his suit he demands compensation for the misuse of his persona, further requesting that "existing copies of the game be collected and impounded," so as to keep it from appearing as though he were just out for some quick cash. None of the accused have yet to comment, though we'll give you the latest nit and grit as it unfolds.
