Eugene, Oregon might not be L.A, but then again is that a bad thing?
GarageGames announced IndieGamesCon ’03, perhaps one of the biggest gaming shows in the Northwest. Although not as big as E3, the show still manages to attract a sizable amount of visitors every year.
Indie Games Con is a fun, informal and informative gathering of independent game developers from around the world. IGC is designed to be a summit meeting of like-minded developers with the shared goal to focus on collaboration and building community. This is an unprecedented opportunity to meet other Indie developers, professional guest developers and hardware manufacturers, as well as the GarageGames staff.
"Indie Games Con, like GarageGames, was created to bring back the fun and keep it real," comments Jeff Tunnell, President of GarageGames. "Adding the Indie Jam to our Friday night opening party and a Peer-2-Peer track for developers to share their experiences, reinforces our mantra‚ Make Games and Have Fun!"
IGC provides connections and content for programmers, artists and Indie entrepreneurs. If you've caught the incurable desire to make games commercially, or even as a hobbyist, this is a community gathering of individuals you will not want to miss. As Bradley Schick, founder of Lunkwill Labs described last year’s IGC, "There are a lot of like-minded, enthusiastic, friendly and fun people in this community. It may sound corny, but in some ways the IGC felt like a huge extended family gathering…"
Highlights include the keynote speech by Jeff Tunnell, GarageGames President/Co-Founder, presentations by industry leaders, a ShowOFF Center where teams can take their latest games out for a spin and get feedback, and a LAN party.
Registration is now open and will be held in Eugene, Oregon. Onsite check-in begins at noon on October 10th with the final session wrapping up at 4pm on October 12th.
Register online before September 19th and pay only $150. The fee includes a three-day pass, including sessions, food, parties and a t-shirt. Space is limited so reservations will be on a first come first serve basis. Registrations after September 19th will be $195. More information is available at http://www.indiegamescon.com.
