Game developer gives his insight into the industry.
The Guildhall at SMU has posted a new Q&A from Graeme Devine. The veteran game developer looks back on his career and shares insights on how he broke into the business, his most embarrassing professional moments, gives advice to aspiring game developers and more.
Here's an excerpt from the interview:
How and when did you make your big break into the gaming industry? I worked on the TRS-80 back in the late 70s. I used to sell my “tapes”. From there I went on to slowly do bigger and bigger things working my way across the pond and eventually to here in Texas.
Who were/are some of your mentors? Why? Hmmm. I’d have to say my Dad. He introduced me to computers, brought my first one home, and encouraged me to learn how to use them.
Your proudest professional moment? I think the first time I saw the credits to “The 7th Guest” working in sync with the music. The whole office had spent maybe 7 days straight at the office. When the credits worked, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place. It was the end of the project and we were done and we knew it was going to be huge.
