Gaming Audio festival announces winners.
The Game Audio Network Guild (G.A.N.G.), the non-profit organization established to promote excellence in interactive audio, presented the Second Annual G.A.N.G. Awards Show on March 25th during the 2004 Game Developers Conference (GDC). Awards were given in 31 Overall, Music, Sound Design, Voice Acting, Industry and Trade, and Recognition categories.
The finalists are shortlisted and voted on by the G.A.N.G. membership, featuring the top audio directors, music producers and sound designers in the videogame industry. The G.A.N.G. website has recently updated its official website www.audiogang.org with details of the nominees and winners for this year’s Annual Game Audio Network Guild Awards: http://www.audiogang.org/public/awards/2nd_gang_awards.html
Tommy Tallarico, President and Founder of G.A.N.G., said, "When the winning products are played and heard there will be no misconceptions of bleeps and blips anymore. Our musical scores and audio design are just as good if not better than any film out there."
The awards show featured live musical performances from games including a classic videogame medley by Dweezil Zappa. The show’s audio was produced in Pro Logic II surround sound, provided by Dolby. Some of the event’s other premiere sponsors were DTS, Creative Labs, APM, Spherex and Technicolor.
"The G.A.N.G. awards are an integral part of our motto to promote excellence in interactive audio," affirmed Clint Bajakian, G.A.N.G. Co-Founder and Vice President. "By recognizing the individuals and products of all the nominees and winners we are raising awareness of the quality increase audio is bringing to videogames."
