Free Q-bert download available now.
Sony Pictures Digital today announced the revival of one of the most popular video games of the 80¹s, Q*bert, as a free online game. The colorful, jumpy character beloved by millions will be available exclusively on Yahoo! Games starting today and for a limited time at http://games.yahoo.com. The game bounces online after the introduction of a deluxe downloadable version last month. "The popularity of Oretro¹ games has skyrocketed in the past year and Q*bert is one of the most popular titles from the period,² stated Paul Jensen, vice president of strategic alliances for Sony Pictures Digital. ³We have taken a classic game and improved it by extensively expanding the game play for fans. We have no doubt that Q*bert will be one of our most successful releases yet.²
Q*bert fans can play a free online version that is identical to the original 1983 game, featuring the same dynamic game play, animation and sound. For players wanting a more extensive Q*bert experience, the deluxe downloadable version has five new themed levels including Jungle, Castle, Ice, Pirate and Space, with each level featuring a costumed Q*bert and game tiles to match that particular level¹s theme. For example, the Jungle level features Q*bert dressed in a safari outfit with the pyramid tiles in ancient hieroglyphics. The downloadable version also features 50 new boards to test players¹ skills and is available for purchase at $19.95.
