Who says playing videogames 5 hours a day doesn't payoff?
Major League Gaming (MLG) announced today one of its top professional players, Matthew “Zyos” Leto, has entered into a consulting agreement with WXP, Inc. to work on the final development of Greg Hastings’ Tournament Paintball from Activision Value Publishing, Inc. The move marks the first time a publisher has entered into a relationship with a professional video game player to work on the development of a product. Zyos, 19, began playing video games at the age of four. From his first love, Mario Brothers on NES, to playing on a variety of consoles, he realized the potential to turn his passion into something far greater. Combined with an unyielding competitive streak and driving attitude, Zyos began playing up to five hours daily, competing whenever and wherever he could. He became a professional player in November 2002 and joined the ranks as an MLG Pro in August 2003. Today, Zyos is the #1-ranked MLG pro player in the world, with earnings in excess of $30,000. Published by Activision Value and developed by WXP, Greg Hastings’ Tournament Paintball is slated for a November 2004 release exclusively for the Xbox® videogame system from Microsoft.
