Various Japanese retailers have begun advertising “W-packs,” which are two-game bundles of Nintendo GameCube titles sold for a price close to that of a single game.
Each W-Pack will retail for 7,880 yen (about $73). By comparison, purchasing two Nintendo titles at their standard retail price would total 12,180 yen (or roughly $113). Currently the W-Packs contain five different Nintendo GameCube titles, bundled in different permutations, as well as a special W-Pack of Pikmin and Pikmin 2, which comes packaged with five Pikmin figures; this W-Pack will cost a bit more at 8,980 yen (about $83). The W-Packs are scheduled to go on sale starting July 23. No plans have been announced by Nintendo to offer these packs in North America.
