Kuma War releases mission based on Patrick Tillman
by Kit

Wednesday, September 1 2004

War Hero has game mission dedicated in his memory.

Kuma\War has launched its first mission in the new Freedom’s Heroes series to pay tribute to Army Ranger Corporal Patrick Tillman, who was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart, and all of the U.S. Army Rangers who continue to fight to protect our nation’s freedoms.

Re-creating stories of individuals who have been honored for their heroism, the first mission to launch in the series, Freedom’s Heroes: Rangers Lead the Way, features the unit that Patrick Tillman served in and demonstrates the difficult job that U.S. Army Rangers face daily. These elite teams have been operating in small units and often behind enemy lines along the Eastern Afghanistan, Pakistani border since the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In this mission, you are with the US Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment operating near Spera, Afghanistan when well-armed unyielding Taliban and al Qaeda fighters ambush your convoy. You must repel the attack and then move into the mountains to take the fight to the enemy, all while dealing with severe terrain and restrictive light conditions.

In addition to the playable mission, Kuma also provides a video news show that provides expert military analysis, historical context and an in depth look at the U.S. Rangers.

“We developed the Freedom’s Heroes Series to highlight the exemplary actions of the brave men and women who have chosen to serve their country,” said Keith Halper, CEO Kuma Reality Games. “By enabling players to step into the boots of these heroic men and women, we hope they gain a better understanding of the skills and sacrifice of soldiers like Corporal Patrick Tillman.”

Every month, subscribers can expect to receive at least three new missions further exploring the tense situation in Iraq. Upcoming Kuma\War missions include stories honoring individual war heroes in the Freedom’s Heroes Missions series and the ongoing hunt for al Qaeda leaders in the border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Kuma\War service is available for free download and players can demo the game online at http://www.kumawar.com or purchase a subscription for only $9.99 monthly. As a salute to the men and women in uniform who have served their countries, Kuma Reality Games will donate $1 of all paid subscriptions to The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, which was created to assist the families of the nation's fallen heroes killed in duty.
