Softimage | XSI prominent in Sky Captain and The World of Tommorow

Software suite used to create 60% of movies' scenes.

Avid Technology today announced that five leading Softimage customers – Hybride, Pixel Liberation Front, R!OT, Rising Sun Pictures, and Stan Winston Digital – used SOFTIMAGE|XSI digital content creation software to create a variety of shots in the recently released feature film Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The film included CG graphics in every scene. The film’s production team, World of Tomorrow, shot footage of live actors on blue screen and then outsourced nearly 900 CG shots to independent visual effects shops, more than 60% of which were created with SOFTIMAGE|XSI software.

The action-fantasy-adventure was written and directed by Kerry Conran, and features Gwyneth Paltrow, Jude Law, and Angelina Jolie. It is set in 1939 and investigates the mysterious disappearance of famous scientists around the world.
