Orbz is only one of four initial titles.
TLC Industries, Inc. (http://www.tlcind.com) is proud to announce that they will demonstrate Orbz, one of four launch titles for FlexArcade (http://www.flexarcade.com), at Indie Games Con (http://www.indiegamescon.com). Justin Mette, President of 21-6 Productions (http://www.21-6.com), developers of the game, will also join James Hills and Pierre Maloka from TLC Industries as they present a talk titled “Arcade Game Development? Ten Answers Indies Need to Know” about FlexArcade, TLC Industries’ new coin-op arcade platform. Conference will be held Oct. 8-10 in Eugene, OR.
"Developing for FlexArcade was a great experience for us and required only days to integrate," says Justin Mette, President of 21-6 Productions. "This left us free to create a completely new way to play Orbz that is as compelling as the original. Orbz made its debut on the PC at the 2002 Indie Games Con and we are very proud that the game is returning in 2004 as a launch title for FlexArcade!"
FlexArcade allows operators to change their cabinets from one game to the next by merely inserting a CD, attaching a hardware security key and replacing the marquee. This flexibility promises to create a new market for game developers as it allows operators to re-use their FlexArcade hardware and simply purchase new FlexGame Packs, instead of having to purchase dedicated hardware for each game. This increases their potential return on investment and opens up the market for more, new, content from indie game developers.
“We are really excited about the launch of FlexArcade next week at the AMOA tradeshow in Las Vegas,” says James Hills, Marketing Director for TLC Industries. “The company is in a great position to help both operators and developers by expanding the existing coin-op arcade industry with the FlexArcade concept; developers love it because they get to sell more games and operators love it because they can buy more, everybody wins!”
TLC Industries has assembled an initial lineup of six games for FlexArcade, including puzzle, action and racing games, but is constantly looking for new developers.
