First person shooter will feature low price point for early adopters.
GarageGames announced today the launch of its first game Dark Horizons: Lore on Mac OS X and Windows at an early adopter price of $24.95.
Dark Horizons: Lore is a first-person shooter that is based in a universe where the bitter history of a ravaged, war-torn Earth unfolds before the player's eyes. Warring factions in the year 2155 pit cybernetically-controlled, mech-style machines of war against one another in savage team-based combat on a dark 3D Earth. It's squad against squad as you and your teammates struggle to hold ground and complete objectives against enemy forces.
One of Dark Horizons: Lore's many compelling features is the sophisticated online tracking of player data and history which opens ladders, tournaments and rankings to the Lore gamer. This powerful "backend" aspect of Dark Horizons: Lore is the focus of a current stress test being conducted by the development team.
"With over 5,000 beta players giving us input, it's great to live out our vision of creating an experience for the gamer that really uses their input and feedback as part of the development process," says Adrian Wright, President of Max Gaming. "Dark Horizons: Lore is a game we are proud to play."
"As independent game publishers we're passionate about making games that exceed our fans' expectations," comments Jay Moore, GarageGames Evangelist. "Dark Horizons Lore is a great example of a game which does exactly that: With a persistent universe and innovative online meta-map that evolve the game alongside the player, the Lore experience will always have something new to offer in content, art, missions and storyline."
A free, time-limited, trail version is available for download at www.garagegames.com/lore for both Mac OSX and Windows (the Linux version is coming soon). The online retail version is available for $24.95 early adopter price with no additional monthly fees.
