Futuremark updates PCMark 2004
by Kit

Thursday, May 6 2004

Free download fixes bugs and adds detection for new system setups.

Futuremark Corporation announced today the immediate availability of a software patch to its PCMark 04 benchmark software. PCMark 04 is a testing utility that has grown popular with PC enthusiast since its release in November 2003.

Available immediately, this free downloadable software patch fixes all reported and reproduced bugs and adds detection for all the latest CPUs and video display cards. The patch will not affect the benchmark score.

The fixes include detection for new CPUs and Graphic Display Cards; Fixes Grammar Check Test on AMD Athlon64 FX-53 processors; DiVX Encoding Test detects and prevents manual tuning of the encoder settings that could artificially skew test results.

Futuremark's official mirrors carry both a 2.8MB patch download for current PCMark04 users and a full 36MB download of the PCMark04 Build 1.2.0 for new users. A list of official mirrors can be found at http://www.futuremark.com/download/.

PCMark04 is available in two versions: PCMark04 Pro for private use and PCMark04 Business for commercial and business use. The software is available from http://www.futuremark.com/products/pcmark04/ for $19.95 for private use and $199.95 for business use. A limited functionality version of PCMark04 is freely available at http://www.futuremark.com/download/ for evaluation purposes.
