Ubisoft today announced the launch of the mod section within the official Far Cry community site hosted by Ubi.com. Far Cry (PC, Rated-M, $39.99 MSRP) features the Sandbox Editor, a tool that allows users to create new Far Cry levels and mods. The CryENGINE technology which the game and editor are based on allows for user-friendly map-editing. Players can build their own maps, re-construct game levels, and switch from editing to playing on the fly with one simple command. In addition to releasing this tool, Crytek has released a 180+ page manual explaining how to work with the editor.
The mod channel on the Far Cry community site will support and highlight user mods that have been created with the Sandbox Editor.
