EA to bring out RPG based on Peter Jackson trilogy.
Electronic Arts has informed VGLN.com today of the development of The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, a role-playing game based on New Line Cinema’s trilogy and due for release on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube and Game Boy Advance this fall.
Players will travel through Middle-earth, assembling a party of heroes as they advance. Individual quests will be offered, along with “major events” featured in the three films. Initially fighting on the side of the Fellowship, players will also be able to unlock the ability to act as a minion of Sauron.
EA’s Redwood Shores studio is developing the console versions, while Amaze Entertainment studio Griptonite Games is handling the development of the GBA title.
