Looks like the king daddy of MMORPGs has begun its beta phase for its sequel.
Beta sign-ups begin today for EverQuest II, the next-generation massively multiplayer online (MMO) game from Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE).
Thousands of players are expected to apply in order to test the game beginning this June. EverQuest II will be available at retail in North America after the Beta program is complete later in the year. Dedicated, longtime subscribers to SOE's EverQuest Legends service will be the first allowed into Beta, followed by players that fulfilled the requirements of the Lords of EverQuest special offer. Both groups are being contacted directly by SOE via email so members of those groups need not apply for Beta.
Additional Beta testers will be selected from applications received through the EverQuest II website. Gamers interested in signing up for the Beta are encouraged to visit http://www.everquest2.com SOE will notify qualified Beta applicants in stages over the coming months.
