New PC Battlefield game will tackle the modern era.
Electronic Arts and developer Digital Illusions have informed VGLN.com that a new Battlefield game will be developed for the PC.
Battlefield 2, similar to Battlefield: Modern Combat, will take gamers into the modern era, in which gamers can play as one of three military superpowers (U.S, China or the Middle East Coalition). Over 30 vehicles will be included, as will a new type of game play experience called “enhanced team play,” which “allows players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their teammates.” Also, weapons will have the ability to fire through certain barriers such as doors, and softer hiding spots such as wooden fences.
Battlefield 2 will also feature an all-new game engine and physics system as well as the ability to advance in rank from depending on in-game successes.
