Six new cards introduced as part of new line of GPUs.
nVidia Corp. informed VGLN.com today that the company has launched its GeForce 6 lineup of graphics processing units (GPUs), which the company claims represents the “biggest performance and feature leap in company history.”
GeForce 6800 Ultra and 6800 retail models are expected to become available in the next 45 days, while computer and OEM manufacturers and game developers should be receiving the new boards soon.
Advancements include a new superscalar 16-pipe architecture, support for DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0 and an on-chip video processing engine, which will allow for the delivery of high-definition video playback.
